the medical Internet are the accuracy of information, the
trustworthiness and finding information & navigation.
-A great majority (66% of patients, 71% professionals) believe that
certification and/or accreditation of medical web sites may help resolve
the critical issues.

their care providers, 52% found the consultation more constructive.
- Most people (59%) favor certified web sites.
- And more: click on the above link. There are interesting findings
about comparative preferences of search engines (general or medical) by
patients and by health professionals.
The results are based on an online questionnaire voluntarily completed
between May and June 2002.
******* Press release
Health On the Net Foundation held its annual Foundation Council meeting the
9th and 10th December 2002 in Geneva. Two new Board members were elected
and will share the presidency, reflecting the Board’s desire to renew and
reinforce itself following the loss of HON’s President, Professor Jean-Raoul
Sherrer, who died in March 2002.
The new members are Professor Randolph Miller, who will hold the office
of President – USA, and Professor Antoine Geissbühler, who was elected
President – Europe. The geographic co-presidency is the latest expression
of HON’s increased international role in setting standards for online health
and medical information. HON’s new leadership represents important
constituencies in the field of Medical Informatics.
