Diabetes mellitus accounts for almost half of alldialysis patients in most centres. The associatedcomorbidity of these patients makes it a struggle to providecomprehensive dialysis treatment. In parts of Asia with arapidly aging population this further hampers efforts toprovide equitable treatment for all. Peritoneal dialysisprovides a reasonable alternative in the management of endstage renal failure especially in patients with coexistentcardiovascular disease and challenging vascular access. OurScientific Programme will focus on these problems as well asreview current issues in the management of peritonealdialysis patients.</description>
