(HealthDay News) -- The next time you head out for a run, consider using a trail for a change of pace and a new physical challenge.

The American Council on Exercise explains these benefits of running on a trail:

  • More entertaining, enjoyable exercise.
  • A greater physical challenge than running on a flat road.
