Health Tip: Kids Keeping You From Exercising?
Find time even if family keeps you busy

By Diana Kohnle

(HealthDay News) -- Kids and family responsibilities can make it tough to find time to exercise, but it's important for your health and to be a good role model.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists these tips to keep responsibilities at home from preventing your workouts:

  • Ask a family member or friend with young children to swap babysitting with you so you can have time to get to the gym.
  • Find exercise you can do with the kids, such as going for a walk, playing a game of tag or doing a dance/aerobic exercise video together.
  • Get some simple at-home exercise equipment, such as a stationary bike or a jump rope, to exercise at home when the kids are busy playing or taking naps.
  • Try to dedicate time to exercising when the kids aren't with you.
