Here are the main activities and services undertaken and developed by the Foundation in 1998:

Launched the HONcode membership application service in order to actively support the HONcode initiative as well as the HONcode Check Site tool which is a very short questionnaire to help assess if a Web site follows the ethical aspects highlighted by HONcode principles.
HON participated in the European Congress of the Internet in Medicine, MEDNET98. Health On the Net Foundation presents the " New Developments of MedHunt Medical Search Engine", and the " HON's Third survey on the usage of the Internet for medical/health Internet purposes".
HON participated in the Quality Healthcare Information on the Net'98 conference, organised by the IHC (Internet Healthcare Coalition), McLean, Virginia, U.S.A.. Health On the Net Foundation presents the "HONcode Principles".
HON lectured on Internet and medical informatics for medical students at the Geneva University Medical School.
HON endorses the conference, Integrated Strategies for Electronic Health Data Management, London, United-Kingdom. Health On the Net Foundation presents the "Initiatives of the HON Foundation to improve the quality (HONcode) and the localisation (MedHunt) of medical and health information available on the Net".
HON participated in the training program, "Internet, Medline et dossier médical informatisé du pédiatre", «2ème Journée Romande de Pédiatrie (JRPP II)», Dorigny University, Lausanne, Switzerland.
HON participated in the 9th World Congress on Medical Informatics, MEDINFO'98, Seoul, Korea. Health On the Net Foundation presents "A multi-agent sofbot to retrieve medical information on Internet" and the " Health On the Net Code of Conduct for medical and health Web sites.
Launched the new version of MedHunt, dedicated multilingual medical/health search engine with an index of thousands of medical/health Web sites.
MedHunt proposes a spell checker, a list of medical/health topics for a given query, the MeSH terminology, and a display of the results by geographical, domain name, and ranking preferences.
Launched the service Browse and Search the MeSH classification, which is a hierarchical structure of medical concepts (18,000) from the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
It allows you to find appropriate concepts with descriptions and then perform a search with MedHunt, Medline, or Yahoo! to find Web sites, article references and abstracts, or related daily news respectively.
Results of the Survey May/Jun 98 on the evolution of Internet usage for medical/health purposes conducted by the HON Foundation.
HON participated at the INET'98 conference, Geneva, Switzerland. The Health On the Net Foundation presented the "HON May/Jun 98 survey on the evolution of Internet usage for medical/health purposes ".
HON presented in the "HON Foundation Code of Conduct for medical and health Web sites" at the Center for Telemedicine Law International Telemedicine Working Group, Washington, U.S.A..

HON May/Jun 98 survey on the evolution of Internet usage for medical/health purposes conducted by the Health On the Net Foundation.

Launched PACSHunt, a search engine devoted to discovering PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and DICOM (Digital Imaging Communications in Medicine) information on the internet, has been built by M.A.R.V.I.N. for the Digital Imaging Unit of the University Hospital of Geneva.
Health On the Net Foundation Web site mirrors the 9th World Congress on Medical Informatics, medinfo '98(August 18-22, 1998, Seoul, Korea).
Participation in medical informatic teaching for medical students at the Geneva University Medical School.
HON participated in the Internet Society Geneva Chapter, IsocGva, meeting on "Health and the Internet", Geneva, Switzerland. The Health On the Net Foundation presented the "HON Foundation Code of Conduct for medical and health Web sites".
HON participated at the Workshop "Medizin und Internet: Evaluationstechniken", University of Bonn, Germany. The Health On the Net Foundation gives a paper on "Medical/Health Information on the Internet".

Launch of the International non-profit Association " Ensemble contre la douleur" Web site which is hosted free of charge by the Health On the Net Foundation Web site.
The article "Internet et la médecine: solutions proposés par la Fondation Health On the Net," is published in the Cahiers psychiatriques, Geneva University Hospital, No24, pp. 137-144
HON participated in the training program, "Comment surfer sur le Web?", « 13ème Journées Annuelles de la Société Suisse d'Informatique Médicale (SSIM) », Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
