Slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A)

A group of leukotrienes released by mast cells during anaphylaxis which induces a prolonged constriction of smooth muscle. This prolonged constriction is not reversible by treatment with antihistamines . A mediator of Immediate Hypersensitivity (Type I).
