A vascular reaction involving the deep dermis or subcutaneous or submucal tissues, the histological features of which include vasodilation , superficial (papillary) dermal edema , increased permeability of the capillaries , a sparse perivascular infiltrate of lymphocytes and rare neutrophils and eosinophils .
