2. Presentation of the site
Ophthalmology Grand Round and Eye Rounds is a service of the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in Iowa City, Iowa.

In 1925, Cecil Starling OBrien, MD, was hired as the head of the newly autonomous Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa. Dr. O'Brien started the tradition of daily morning rounds to teach residents at the bedside. Grand rounds at Iowa evolved from bedside to the clinic, and, under the guidance of then Department Head, Thomas A. Weingeist, PhD, MD, to the Braley Auditorium.
