Editorial board
An editorial board, consisting of experts in their respective fields, assesses the scientific validity of material submitted via the category managers/editors. Their main aim is to protect the image of the MRC as a credible scientific research organisation and the image of AfroAIDSinfo as a credible source of HIV- and AIDS-related information. The material is submitted via a listserv to the members of the board, who are required to comment on the material within two weeks of it being submitted.

2. Presentation of the site
Mission:
A web-based information portal developed by the South African Medical Research Council. It provides up-to-date, scientifically accurate information on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) with a specific focus on the southern African region.

Information provided by an individual, either by submissions or through the registration process, will be treated privately and confidentially. The AfroAIDSinfo consortium will only use registration details for further development of this initiative.
