Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders in Childhood
 |
Otolaryngology , also called
otorhinolaryngology , is the medical speciality
concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ear, nose,
and throat. Traditionally, treatment of the ear was associated with that
of the eye in medical practice. With the development of laryngology
(study of the throat) in the late 19th century, the connection between
the ear and throat became known, and otologists became associated with
laryngologists, thus the birth of this discipline.
